Uploaded wrong CV - BCG

Hey everyone,

While submitting my application, I uploaded the wrong CV at BCG. I do not see any option to edit it now.

If I email HR, will I look bad in front of him/her?

Obviously, I want to upload a new CV but how do I convey this message to HR?

It has been only 2 days since I have submitted my application.

If you don't send an email - it is most likely the end of the road for you.

If you send the email - it might just not be.

There is no downside for you in emailing the HR. Send them your “correct” CV and explain the situation. Propose that they consider replacing it in your profile.

Hi there,

I agree with the other coaches, definitely contact HR with the correct CV if there are major improvements, if the change is significant the benefits will outweigh the risk.

Best,

If the CV you want to upload only has minor changes compared to the one you uploaded, I wouldn't worry. If it's very wrong, I would quickly reach out to HR (you don't want it sitting in the system for long enough that they start reading your application) and explain your situation. I agree with Calvin that in this case any cons from looking bad in front of HR are greatly outweighed by the pro of having the right resume read.

Hi there,

If the CV you uploaded has real issues (bad formatting, missing key experiences, typos, etc.) you have no choice but to email HR.

Just explain to them that you accidentally uploaded the wrong CV but see no option to update it. Attach your new CV (pdf format) and ask them if there is a way to update your CV on file (they will go and update it, but don't ask them to directly…just ask “is there a way”).

I would e-mail HR if I were you. The benefits of having the correct CV outweigh the risks in my view

I understand you are nervous about emailing HR and looking bad. However, the alternative is to proceed with a CV that (potentially) is not up to par. It is completely fine to email them and explain the situation politely. These things happen and they are very likely to be understanding.

All the best,
Udayan

Hi there!

By not sending an email, the wrong CV may cause you to lose the opportunity while an email might save it so go ahead and send it! Just be careful when writing the email (i.e apologizing, etc.) and make the subject of the email relevant as well so that it doesnt go unnoticed

Good luck
