Hello!

Congrats on moving to the case stage! Hope our earlier feedback was helpful.

Important: Platinion cases are not classic pure-strategy MBB cases. They are typically more focused on:

  • IT architecture and system landscapes
  • Enterprise transformations (ERP, CRM, cloud, data platforms)
  • Technology selection / vendor evaluation
  • Implementation roadmaps
  • Linking IT decisions to business impact

How to prepare:

1️⃣ Refresh core case skills

  • Structured thinking (MECE)
  • Clear top-down communication
  • Basic math under pressure

2️⃣ Strengthen IT consulting fundamentals

  • How to assess legacy architecture
  • Cloud migration trade-offs
  • Build vs buy decisions
  • Enterprise system integration risks
  • Governance, rollout planning, stakeholder alignment

3️⃣ Practice explaining technical topics simply
You’ll likely need to translate technical complexity into CEO-ready language.

4️⃣ Prepare senior-level stories
As this is a Senior role, they will test:

  • Ownership
  • Influencing stakeholders
  • Handling ambiguity
  • Driving IT decisions

Avoid:

  • Going too deep into technical weeds
  • Sounding like a system integrator rather than a strategic IT advisor

Bottom line: show that you can combine structured consulting thinking + credible enterprise IT expertise.

As a coach, I’m here to help you — we can run Platinion-style mock cases, sharpen your IT structuring approach, and make sure you perform at a true senior-consultant level in the interview.

Congratulations on moving forward. Here is how I would approach the prep.

What Platinion cases are like

Platinion cases are different from classic BCG strategy cases. They focus more on technology and implementation. Since you are interviewing for Enterprise Solutions, expect cases around:

  • ERP transformation decisions
  • Large-scale system implementations
  • Build vs buy decisions
  • Technology vendor evaluation
  • Integration challenges

Your technical background matters. They want to see you can think about business problems through a technology lens.

How to prepare

First, understand what a case interview is. Spend a few days watching case walkthroughs online. The basic idea is simple. You get a problem, break it down, work through it step by step, and give a recommendation.

Then start practicing. Focus on tech-flavoured cases like IT strategy or digital transformation. Classic cases are fine for building basics, but also practice scenarios closer to what Platinion actually does.

Get comfortable structuring problems out loud. When you hear a case, pause and break it into pieces before diving in. That is what they are watching for.

Practice mental math. Nothing fancy. Just be able to do rough percentages and estimates without freezing.

Don't forget the fit side

Have a few tight stories ready about times you led something, solved a tough problem, or dealt with a difficult stakeholder. Keep each under two minutes.

Practical tips

  • Find a case partner. Live practice beats solo prep every time.
  • Do 10 to 15 cases really well instead of cramming 50.
  • Lean into your ERP or implementation experience. That is a real advantage here.

Feel free to reach out if you want to practice a case or talk through your prep.

Congrats on moving forward—that is a massive achievement. You are absolutely right to focus your preparation, because the Platinion case is a distinct beast compared to the classic generalist strategy case you might find at the core firms.

The key pivot you need to make is moving from generic business levers to high-level strategic technology decision-making. Your interviewers are testing whether you can merge C-suite structured thinking with true technical credibility. You won't be asked about market sizing; you will be solving problems like: "How should a massive retailer structure its multi-year global ERP deployment and manage the associated integration risks?" or "What are the trade-offs between consolidating on a single hyperscaler vs. maintaining a multi-cloud environment, and how does that link back to the CFO's cost objectives?"

Your preparation needs to be three-pronged. First, tighten up your core consulting skills—structured thinking, clear top-down communication, and robust math under pressure are table stakes. Second, explicitly practice framing technical decisions (like build vs. buy, vendor selection, or cloud migration) purely in terms of business impact, risk governance, and implementation roadmaps. Third, and critically for a senior role, focus heavily on the advisor component. They are testing your ownership, your ability to handle deep ambiguity, and your capacity to translate complex system architecture issues into clear, concise action plans for non-technical leadership.

In short, show them you are the strategic IT advisor who can not only diagnose the technical landscape but also guide the board through the transformation. You have the technical base; now ensure your delivery is pure MBB.

All the best with the preparation!

hey there :)

Congrats on moving forward, that’s great news. For BCG Platinion the case is usually more tech and implementation focused than classic strategy, so expect topics like IT architecture, system selection, digital transformation, ERP or cloud migration, combined with structured problem solving. I’d practice standard MBB case fundamentals first so you’re solid on structure and communication, then layer in tech specific thinking such as trade offs between build vs buy, scalability, integration risks, cost and timeline. Also be ready to speak concretely about past IT projects. If you want, I can walk you through a Platinion style mock case.

best,
Alessa :)

Congrats!

Reach out for an actual simulation.

Nothing will give you a better understanding of how the interview will be, nor will any other source give you a clearer indication of your likelihood of passing the interview and what you can do to change it.

Once you have clarity on the above, you can be more targeted about how you invest the time you have until the interview, focusing only on the things that matter.

Best,
Cristian
