Should I follow up with BCG?

Hi,

I had my first interview in the first round with BCG almost 2 weeks ago but haven’t heard back. The status on the portal is still “Interview in Progress”. Today I got invited to a BCG case study workshop on April 16th. Just wondering if I should reach out to HR asking about the status, or wait until they get back to me? Also, is the case study workshop going to be evaluative i.e. whether a formal interview invite will be sent based on my performance in the workshop?

Thank you!

Hi,

2 weeks is a perfectly normal timeline,  so nothing to worry about at this stage

If it gives you peace of mind  you can reach out to HR;there’s no risk in doing so. That said, if I were you I’d probably wait at least another week before following up

Regarding the workshop: it’s not evaluative,  so your performance there won’t determine whether you get the next interview

If you need more details, feel free to DM me.

Best,
Franco

I wouldn’t read too much into this — this timing is quite normal for BCG.

Two weeks without feedback is not unusual, and “Interview in Progress” typically just means the process is still ongoing internally (alignment, scheduling, etc.).

On whether to follow up:
You can send a short, polite note, but it’s not strictly necessary yet. If you do, keep it very light. Otherwise, waiting a few more days is perfectly fine.

On the workshop:
These events are usually not formally evaluative. They’re more for engagement and giving candidates exposure to the firm. That said, you should still treat it professionally — it’s a chance to make a good impression, even if it’s not an official assessment.

So overall:

  • no red flags here
  • don’t overthink the delay
  • treat the workshop as a positive signal and an opportunity

I’d just stay patient and keep moving with your prep in the meantime.

The workshop is not evaluative. It's aimed at helping candidates better prepare for interviews. It's meant to help.

Re the interview - do reach out with a polite follow-up to the recruiter and ask. There's nothing wrong with that.

If you have any follow-up questions, don't hesitate to reach out.

Best,
Cristian

hey there :)

two weeks with “Interview in Progress” is still within a normal range, especially if they’re coordinating multiple candidates, so not a negative signal; I’d give it a few more days and then send a short, polite follow up if you still haven’t heard, that’s totally fine and expected, the workshop invite is usually more of a branding and engagement event rather than formally evaluative, but of course you should still treat it professionally since impressions can matter indirectly, overall you’re still in the process so I wouldn’t worry too much

best,
Alessa :)

Getting invited to the workshop means your application is still alive. Hold off on emailing HR for now. If you hear nothing after the workshop, that is the right time to follow up.

On the workshop: treat it as evaluative. BCG sometimes uses these to assess candidates informally. Even if it turns out to be purely educational, showing up sharp costs you nothing.

Assume you are being watched. Prep accordingly.

Hi there,

Generally, following up is more for your peace of mind rather than actually having any impact on the process (you can't change anything just from a follow-up).

Feel free to reach out if it makes you feel better!
