Hi all

At McKinsey, you will be banned for 2 years if I remember correctly. However, an important exception exists:
If you interviewed at McK location x (e.g. Germany) and failed, you might still apply to location y (e.g. Dubai - sufficiently far away) within these 2 years. If location y is interested, HR will ask “special permission” to interview you despite the ban.
This is generally going to be granted if your personal fit was good and you failed because of some minor quant issue, for example.
Furthermore, if the candidate pool is different in location y (i.e. ‘poorer’), this strengthens your case. It basically means that you weren't quite competitive in location x but you are in location y. This is not how firms should operate because standards are meant to be absolute and universal. However, expect this to be the case.
Hope this helps!
Hey there,
For McKinsey, the ban is 24 months for full-time roles and 12 months after internship applications.
In certain cases - if you dropped out in the 2nd round with very positive feedback, barely not making the cut - this could be reduced to a couple of months.
In any case, you need to demonstrate development in 2 areas of the following to be invited again:

Florian
Hello!
Rejection bad period is arround 12-18 months, and it does apply to research teams also (across consulting, in all roles Id say)
The reason for the ban is that you need to add "relevant" experience to your CV, and you need at least 12-18 months for that.
A referral would for sure help, but after the required months.
Don´t give up!
Cheers,
Clara
Hi there,
The ban is generally 12-18 months and is applicable to all positions. In order to improve your odds the next time around make sure to do the following:
1) Gain relevant work experience + certifications
2) Improve your resume itself (better layout, optimized wording, etc.)
3) Network extensively (ideally with a referral)
Hi there,
This is indeed an interesting question which is probably relevant for quite a lot of users, so I am happy to provide my perspective on it:
In case you want a more detailed discussion on how to bypass the reapplication ban, please feel free to contact me directly.
I hope this helps,
Hagen
Hello there,
The ban period depends on your past performance and it can be from 1 to 2 years.
It usually does not apply for research teams, but every office can have a different policy on this. I would suggest you to ask directly the HR that followed your application last time.
Best,
Luca
