I just graduated my mba programme from IIM in India I have previous experience in investment banking firm in india for 3 years. What are my chances of getting recruited in MBB in middle east
Regarding selection in MBB in Middle east

IIMs are known to Middle East recruiters, and a mix of investment banking plus an MBA signals strong analytical and client-facing capability. That said, competition is intense and the ME offices typically prefer candidates with either:
- A top-tier MBA (INSEAD, LBS, Wharton, etc.) or
- Strong regional experience and network in the GCC
Since you’re coming from India, you’ll need to bridge that second gap. I’d suggest:
- Networking with ME-based consultants and alumni from your IIM who’ve made the move
- Tailoring your CV to highlight deal sizes, sectors, and client exposure relevant to GCC priorities (PE funds, infrastructure, etc.)
- Preparing for Middle East-style interviews: cases often pull from public sector transformation, energy, and giga-project contexts
If you want, I run sessions specifically on breaking into the Gulf market, from CV positioning to realistic ME-style mock cases. It can help you go in fully calibrated for what the region expects.

I would need to know your profile in more depth to be able to tell.
But what is useful already for you to know is that ME is super competitive nowadays since lots of international candidates are applying there (esp from Asia).
Also, you're likely to get screened out unless you have some sort of connection that you can prove with the Middle East (having worked there, studied there, personal connections, etc.) Having a referral improves your chances.

The opportunity is quite high - and by now there are quite a few IIM (and/or IIT) background consultants working across the Middle East.
But, the chances are quite challenging - because the competition is insane. You are not just competing with global candidates, you are also up against the ever changing recruiting priorities in the region.
Networking with any consultant who is alumni from your IIM would be the first approach I would suggest. Approach them through the alumni groups for a better response.
Upgrade your CV to the latest and greatest. The CVs made in IIM recruiting are significantly different from the CVs you would typically submit for lateral hiring process outside India.
Prepare your personal story, FIT answers, and more. Ensuring your rationale and motivation is well thought out will be critical for success in the interview - with near equal focus on case and FIT. Lack of, or unspecific FIT preparation can be a deal breaker.
Upgrade your case prep to the differences in Middle East and global consulting recruiting.

Hey, I am from one of the IIMs.
Your chances aren’t a guaranteed “yes,” but it’s definitely possible to break into the Middle East offices. Dubai is highly competitive, but other offices like Riyadh or Doha can sometimes be more open to reviewing applications.
I’d suggest taking a non-traditional approach—focus on building a strong case for why you want to be in the Middle East and back it up with concrete evidence from your past experience and genuine motivation.
Networking will be critical here. You’ll need strong connections to get your CV in front of the right people. I’ve personally cracked interviews in the Middle East and other geographies as someone from an IIM background, and I can share the exact strategies that worked for me.

Hey there :)
With an MBA from IIM and 3 years in investment banking, you’re definitely in a solid position for MBB in the Middle East. They actively hire from top Indian B-Schools, and your finance background is a strong plus for offices like Dubai, Doha, or Riyadh.
What matters most now is a sharp CV, strong story (why consulting, why Middle East), and solid case prep. Also try to get a referral, it makes a real difference in this region.
Happy to help if you want feedback on your application or case prep!
Best,
Alessa :)
