Hello, I just a accepted an offer from the BCG office as a fresh undergraduate. I was wondering if they do reference checks ( if I did a certain internship or work with a certain professor)?
Reference checks

Hello!
Yes, they do what it´s commonly referred as background check.
however, it won´t be so detailed as you are describing. They will check that you indeed graduated from the uni that your CV says, but they won´t check collaborations that you did with professors or things alike.
Hope it helps!
Cheers,
Clara

It's important to be truthful about what you put on a resume because anything can be checked. I would not worry so much about work with a professor but in case they do ask you might want to let the professor know beforehand.

Hi there,
Yes, most firms do reference checks. These are essentially to make sure that you worked where you said you worked in the role you said you were in during the dates you said.

Hi there,
First of all, congratulations on the offer and your upcoming start with BCG!
This is indeed an interesting question which is probably relevant for quite a lot of users, so I am happy to provide my perspective on it:
- Yes, most consulting companies have external vendors that will check the information provided by you.
- Still, please bare in mind that for most countries, they will need you to comply with this check or at least inform you about it.
In case you want a more detailed discussion on how to best prepare your upcoming career entry, please feel free to contact me directly.
I hope this helps,
Hagen

Hi there,
congrats on your offer!
BCG typically checks the big items (last 1-2 employers, university enrollment etc.) but not everything, so they might skip verifying shorter academic internships.
This likely depends also on country-by-country basis.
Let me know if you need help getting ready for your new role, or want to hear about my experience at BCG.
Best,
Seb

Given the short term duration of those assingments, they may not check them. In any case, they would check the internships, not the “work with a certain professor”.
