Psychology to Consulting

Hey,

I'm currently a Psychology student, specialising in Organisational Psychology & Behavioural Economics. I am graduating in 2027 & I've decided that I would like to pursue a career in consulting.

After completing my bachelors, I aim to have a graduate programme lined up, so I was just wondering what courses I should do to increase my chances in this competitive field. What skills do consultant firms look for & what should I develop to prepare?

Hi,

History major here - I managed to break into consulting despite not having a business background. In fact my interview prep buddy was a Psych major, and he got into MBB.

I would say that it is possible to get into consulting even with a Psych bachelors if you are able to demonstrate you have the relevant capabilities which include for e.g.:

Intellectual horsepower
Demonstrated track record of achievement
Interest/passion for business/consulting

You may not even need a graduate degree (again depending on which country you are in).

For grad degrees, the most common path to consulting is still an MBA.
