Hi there,

I would be happy to share my thoughts on your question:

  • First, the average tenure as a BCG Project Leader seems to be 2-3 years, depending on individual performance.
  • Moreover, if the question is about the actual promotion window, BCG seems to promote people on a 6-month basis, occasionally even on a 3-month basis.

You can find more on this topic here: Salaries in the consulting industry.

If you would like a more detailed discussion on your specific situation, please don't hesitate to contact me directly.

Best,

Hagen

Hey!

From my own experience at BCG in Dubai, the promotion window from Project Leader to Principal typically ranges from 2 to 4 years. This of course depends on your performance, leadership skills, business impact, and client contributions, etc. BCG follows a merit-based promotion system, so demonstrating consistent excellence in these areas could accelerate the timeline. Regular feedback and development reviews also play a significant role in determining your readiness for promotion as you may know.

Best, Alessa

Hi there,

This is pretty standardized across regions and firms.

The normal time would be around +/-2 years, with maybe 18 months if you are an extreme high performer.

One trick to find out for yourself: Go on LinkedIn and search for relevant profiles. Some put their tenure and stations on there with the exact dates.

Cheers,

Florian
