Partner referral

Hello Preplounge community,

I had sent my CV and told the partner a bit about my background and today I got a reply from him stating "Thanks for sending in CV, I have passed it onto our industry recruiting team to assess"

He did not ask me for any other information. I am not sure if he has really passed my CV to the recruitment team.

I have not replied to him yet. Can anybody suggest to me what should I do next?

Hi there,

If he said he passed the CV, he should have done so. If he didn’t want to forward the CV, he would have simply not replied. Just thank the partner at this stage, there is no much else you can do.

Best,

Francesco

Hi, I suggest answering her with a big thank you. Then - if no HR will contact you in the next 5-10 days - I would text HR asking for updates without worrying about bothering them. They are there to help

Best,

Hi there,

Anything we say here is pure conjecture.

Reply to him within 24 hours saying thank you. Then, hope for the best but assume the worst.

Best = interview is coming so start preparing your casing!

Worst= no interview is coming, so keep networking!

I.e. just keep doing case prep and networking!

Hello!

You cannot really check whether he did or not.

Furthermore, in some companies and geographies, you won´t get a confirmation mail.

Trust his word -there is no reason to believe otherwise- and, if you haven´t heard withing two weeks, kindly follow up.

Hope it helps!

Cheers,

Clara

Hi Clara, I am in a similar situation, a partner replied to me 2 weeks back saying "I am asking the recruiting team to get in touch with you".

I had mailed him regarding my interest in the entry-level position at the firm and for an informational interview.

Since 2 weeks have already passed, how should I follow up with the partner?

You must trust that he passed your cv. Thank him back for the help and be patient from here on. You must play it cool and not come across as desperate. Have other options going in parallel.

All the best.

Hey there,

If he said he forwarded it, then he definitely did. There is nothing for you to do at this point. Wait for a response from HR. If it takes more than 2 weeks, send a polite follow-up email.

Kind regards,
Florian

Hi there,

Please don't overthink if the partner was honest or not - thank him and move on. Continue networking and applying - you never know what will work out in the end.

Cheers,

GB

Hi,

Honestly this does not sound like the partner is ready to refer you. It is likely he/she forwarded your resume to the hiring team and it is now their call to interview or not. There is not much more to be done at this point on your end. I would move on to obtaining a referral from another partner if that is possible.
