Oliver Wyman Online Assessment

Hi,

After my application as advanced consultant at Oliver Wyman, I have been asked to complete their online assessment within the next 7 days. Since there's only very limited infomation available on the internet, I want to ask if anyone has taken the "test" and could share some insights on the numerical reasoning part and maybe some tips for preparation beforehand.

Thanks!

Hi there,

Congrats on getting invited to the test!

The OW test follows a similar format to the ones from Kearney, Roland Berger and other firms.

Reach out to the recruiter (you still have time) and ask if they have a template / practice test you could review to prepare.

Otherwise, feel free to use generic tests from these firms that you can find online (even if they are not the latest version). The skills that they test for have remained virtually the same over the years, so older tests will still be relevant.

Best,
Cristian

Hey there :)

Many of my coachees have taken the Oliver Wyman online assessment recently! It usually includes a numerical reasoning section that’s quite data-heavy and fast-paced, think graphs, tables, and interpreting business-like figures under time pressure. It's less about complex math and more about accuracy and speed.

Best prep: GMAT-style numerical practice (especially data interpretation), plus staying calm under pressure. Practicing with a timer really helps. And don’t overthink, move on quickly if you're stuck.

Let me know if you want prep support or mock drills!

Best,
Alessa :)

Hi Christian,

The Oliver Wyman online assessment typically includes a numerical reasoning section that’s similar to SHL or GMAT-style questions—think tables, graphs, and charts with time pressure.

Here are a few quick tips:

  • Practice basic mental math and percentages—speed is key.
  • Use free SHL-style or GMAT data interpretation practice tests online.
  • Keep a notepad and calculator handy (if allowed).
  • Focus on accuracy under time pressure—you often have less than 1 minute per question.

While the test isn’t public, many candidates find it manageable with solid prep.

Happy to help you prep – feel free to reach out.

Best,
Evelina.

Oliver Wyman's test is pretty GMAT-esque; looking at those types of questions may help you.
