Hi community,

I am preparing for the entry level consultant role in Oliver Wyman Financial Services and I have couple of quetions:

I don't have a Finance or Economics major and I don't have any work experience in the financial services industry. Would that be a problem? Do they expect you to know the industry well?
I have recently interviewed with Bain, should I expect similar case questions in OW FS? Or are the cases mainly focused on Financial Services?
Finally, how should I prepare for it? Do I have to do anything different than MBB preparation? (focusing on FS cases or taking some online courses about the industry etc.)

I replied below to your questions:

So far that you have been invited, the case performance is the only thing that matters; this means that if you practice cases on the banking and insurance industries (likely to be present in the interviews) and develop a basic knowledge related to them you should be fine even if you don’t have an Economics/Finance background
You will likely get financial sector cases but not necessarily that only. I interviewed with OW FS and I got questions related to banking, insurance and market sizing, however I helped several other candidates for OW FS and they also got questions related to other sectors. Standard preparation similar to the one for MBB with a bit more focus on financial sector cases should be fine
