Hi there,

Q: Should you keep networking after the application deadlines for MBB - the response rate has considerably gone down post deadlines?

It depends on why you want to network. Without knowing that it’s impossible to answer.

If you are looking for a referral, you can still be referred “unofficially” after the application by dropping your name, if they haven’t screened your CV. However, the person referring you won’t get any bonus, so the incentives for that are going to be lower.

You can find more on referrals here:

You should continue networking to understand the firm culture and it's a good fit for you

Thanks

If you see yourself wanting to be at that firm long term, then definitely yes. The payoff for networking is usually over a long period of time anyway, so I wouldn't be too concerned about a specific application deadline passing (there will always be more in the future).

If you are finding response rates lower, it might be worth either a) trying a different approach or b) giving the person / people a bit of space for a while and reconnecting 3-6 months down the track

Hi there,

If you have already applied networking will no longer have an impact of the odds of you getting invited to interview.

However, if you're still interested to learn more about the firm/culture, then you can continue networking! That said, your energy/time at that point may be better spent case prepping!

Hi there,

It depends on what your end objective is.

Networking long-term always helps, so don't see it as being something limited to only the job application.

If you want to learn more about the role you are targeting, or the office, or even the job itself, you can do this at any point.

Best,

Cristian

Hi there,

What is your networking objective and where are you in your recruitment journey?

Networking just for the sake of it is fine but at that point it becomes highly optional. But if there's a specific reason for your networking, you need to let us know so we can give better guidance.

Best,
Moritz

I don't see why not.  Networking is not just about getting a referral but more importantly, for you to decide on which firm is the best fit for you!

Hello!

It depends.

For instance, in the Madrid office, the period for BAs is September-Spring. If that passes, you cannot enter in the following cycle, and it wouldn´t make sense to stay and wait for one full year…

Hence, very much depends on the tenure and the office.

Hope it helps!

Cheers,

Clara
