Missed BCG coffee chat

Hi,

I signed up for a BCG Middle East coffee chat this summer in June for the visiting associate position and completely forgot about it and missed it. I didn’t apply to bcg this summer, but will do for a full time position next year (so I’m applying in summer/fall 2026).

Does missing a coffee chat impact my application by any chance? Like will I get a negative evaluation or something?

Thanks!

Hi,

don’t worry. Missing a coffee chat won’t negatively impact your application. The only downside is missing the chance to build connections, but it won’t be held against you when you apply later.

Let me know if you need help with the application. Happy to.

Best,

Lukas

Hey there :)

Don’t worry, missing a coffee chat has no impact on your future application. These chats are purely optional networking opportunities, not part of the evaluation process. When you apply next year, your application will be assessed fresh based on your CV, cover letter, and interview performance. If you’d like, you can always reach out again to consultants later for networking and to show interest in the region.

best,
Alessa :)

Hi there,

No need to worry — missing a coffee chat has no impact on your application. These chats are optional networking opportunities, not evaluations. BCG (and other firms) won’t keep a record against you for not showing up.

When you apply in 2026, your application will be assessed on its own merits (CV, cover letter, tests, interviews). If you want to build connections before applying, you can still attend events or reach out to consultants for chats closer to your application date.

Evelina

Hi,

no I wouldn't worry about it. These chats are informal networking opportunities, not part of the official evaluation process. Unless you repeatedly no-show events or interviews, it won’t be held against you. When you apply in 2026, what matters will be your CV, cover letter, and interview performance.

If you want to strengthen your chances, make sure to attend future events, connect with consultants on LinkedIn, and build relationships well before the application cycle. That way, you enter the process with visibility and momentum.

Best of luck!

Hi,

No it is okay. Don't worry.

Most likely they don't even remember that.

That doesn't lead to a negative.

But it was a lost opportunity to lead to a positive.

I.e., if you went and had some good conversations that would help your chances. Not going... doesn't hurt your chances.
