I applied for McKinsey and BCG after more that 18months in another MBB through managers that I knew in Germany. BCG manager responded positively and scheduled the interviews but McKinsey manager sent me an email saying that I had to reapply in 6 months. Do you know whether McK EMs have access to a database of candidates with their historics/applications etc or if they go through HR for this procedure?

Managers don't have the access, so he probably checked it with HR. Just interested, why does it matter?

Of course they don't have it. He unoffically checked with H&R. The 24-month period makes sense though, they have this policy.
For mckinsey, usually for their test you need to wait for a year to re-apply, not sure about the interviews.
