Mckinsey PST

There are not many info on Mckisney PST on the website, however, it is clear that if you do not pass it, you will not be asked to take the other interviews.

Is there any way to avoid taking it?(ex. a referral from an engagement manager)

Why for instance the German offices do not offer it?Isn't it unfair, after all? Especially considering that BCG and McKinsey hire like crazy there?

Let's pretend I am invited to take it, I fail it and my interviews journey ends there. If after 1 year of work experience in consulting (I am a master graduate student with around 1 year of internship experience) I go back to McKinsey, will I have to retake it? Or should I be a professional hire (meaning with at least a couple of years of experience) to avoid taking it?

Thank you

Agree with Vlad, the only way that potentially would create the case to avoid doing it is a high GMAT score (730+).

Indeed the only ones that never do the PST are MBA students that recruit on Campus in the top 10 Business school in the world.

In that case, McKinsey takes it for granted from the admission to the school.

Hi,

  1. Referral does not help - you still have to write PST
  2. Fairness is subjective
  3. If you fail once - you will still have to write it again in 1-2 years
  4. Couple years of experience are not enough to be considered as an experienced hire. And even for the experienced hires, the Firm makes the decision on the case by case basis.

Why do you want to avoid taking it this bad? Honestly, it's not that hard, you just need to prepare beforehand. Don't stress too much!
