1️⃣ Do Industry Experts Have to Take Solve/PSG?
✅ For Generalist Consulting Roles (Associate / Engagement Manager) → Yes, many experienced hires still have to complete the PSG, even if they come from industry backgrounds.
✅ For Expert Roles (e.g., McKinsey Digital, Operations, Sustainability, etc.) → It depends on the role. Some skip Solve and go directly to case & fit interviews, while others may have an alternative assessment.
✅ For Senior-Level Roles (Principal & Above) → Typically not required—hiring is more focused on expertise, leadership, and business development capabilities rather than standardized assessments.

If you mean taking Solve, usually yes. I have helped candidates with 10 years of experience, and they were asked to take Solve. If you have doubts, you can ask HR and they should be able to confirm.
