I applied to an intern role last year and failed the PSG. It hasnt been more than 12 months yet, but I already submitted a full time application. Can I ask the HR to allow me to retake the PSG? (has only been 10 months since I took it)
McKinsey PSG

Hello!
I would say, unfortunately, no - but you can always double check with HR.
The reason for the ban is that you need to add "relevant" experience to your CV, and you need at least 12-18 months for that.
A referral would for sure help, but after the required months.
Don´t give up!

Clara

Hi there,
Q: Can I ask the HR to allow me to retake the PSG? (has only been 10 months since I took it)
The score is usually valid for 12 months. I would recommend to contact HR to check if you can take it again now or if it is better to withdraw and take it following the usual process in 2 months.

Hi there,
You can ask HR. In fact, you should ask. Just be prepared for them to decline your request!

Hi there,
If you apply for another role this time around, you may be able to retake PSG under 12 months. That's because interview results and any resulting ban are generally tied to the role you applied for.
For example: If you fail the interviews for a summer intern position and get blocked from applying again for this position for 12-18 months, you could still apply for the Associate position during the ban time.
However, your best course of action would be to confirm with HR as suggested by other coaches.
Best of luck!

Hello,
Definitely reach out and ask HR. It might be ok if you are now applying for a different role (full-time).
Hi there,
Unfortunately it's not that easy. To re-take the PSG, you need to reapply to McKinsey, which you can do successfully after 1-2 years the earliest. For an accurate information about the reapplication timeframe, it's best to get in touch with their local HR.
Best,
Adrian

Thanks for your answer
