McKinsey Imbellus Game

Hi!

May I know which is a Better Thought Process?

When Building the Food Chain,

Is it Better

To build the full layer of each layer, (>1 Species) before moving on to build the next layer? (Similarly, build full layer too)

Or

Build 1 Species for 1 Layer each time, and keep building upon that single food chain only first.
And then if we still need more species, only add them later in between and max out the calories?

Your experience and response will be appreciated! Thank you.

Hi there,

(i) When Building the Food Chain, Is it Better To build the full layer of each layer, (>1 Species) before moving on to build the next layer? (Similarly, build full layer too)

No

(ii) Build 1 Species for 1 Layer each time, and keep building upon that single food chain only first. And then if we still need more species, only add them later in between and max out the calories?

Yes

If you need help, I created a video as part of my guide exactly on that, showing how to create a chain in 16 minutes thanks to an automated excel (included in the guide). You can find more here:

For other questions please feel free to PM me, I will reply within 12 hours.

Hi there,

This is indeed an interesting question which is probably relevant for quite a lot of users, so I am happy to provide my perspective on it:

  • Based on my own experience, the ones of my coachees and my personal network, I would highly advise you to use the latter approach where you start with one top predator, work through one food chain at a time and complement with missing species until you have 8 species in total.
  • Therefore, I have created an excel tool that may assist you with all possible games of the McKinsey Imbellus. I would be more than happy to work with and help you ace the McKinsey Imbellus.

In case you want a more detailed discussion on how to best prepare the McKinsey Imbellus game without expensive and often times outdated guides, please feel free to contact me directly.

I hope this helps,

Hi there,

My understanding is that the 2nd option is preferred. It's more linear and easier to work through. That said, Francesco is the true Imbellus expert here :)
