Mckinsey Final Offer (Inquiry regarding MBA Coverage)

Hello Consultants,

I have just received an offer from Mckinsey to join as a BA. Looking at the contract, I don't see it clearly being mentioned that top performers are entitled to an MBA (paid by Mckinsey).

Is it normal not to be included? Or should I discuss this with my HR recruiter?

Hi there!

Congrats on the offer!

That's an amazing achievement in and of itself under the current market conditions.

They don't necessarily mention that. If you want to be sure about it, you can ask the recruiter.

But don't worry to much about it. These are also things that you discuss internally once you're there. They are not set in stone. There are things that you agree with the leadership in the office.

Best,
Cristian

Hello,

Congratulations on your offer! I don't think that it's typical for the MBA sponsorship to be included in the contract. “Entitled” is also not really the right word here -i t's not really a case of top performer → automatically eligible for sponsorship. MBA sponsorship is determined over time based on an evaluation of your performance, recommendation of senior colleagues and mentors, and discussions with your professional development manager, so it's much more individualized. I If you have questions about MBA sponsorship, it's perfectly reasonable to discuss them with a recruiter, but I don't think it's standard to include in a contract.

Hi there,

They're not entitled to it…

It has to make sense based on you, the situation, etc. This would not be included in the contract but is rather just a general policy of the company (unrelated to your contract).

Congrats on the offer by the way!

Hi there,

congrats to your offer - great achievement!

Nothing to worry about here - while not stated in the contract (it's not their legal obligation to sponsor anyways), McKinsey provides sponsorship to well-performing individuals pretty much in every region. You can rest assured that it doesn't matter whether MBA sponsorship is stated in a contract or not. You can refer to and rely on the actual policy your specific office practices.

Note that exact MBA policies vary greatly by region, so best day to understand how it's usually practiced is to connect to HR or one of your assigned mentors / buddies.

Hope this helps.

Regards, Andi

Congratulations!

MBA policies only apply to BA hires and vary greatly by region. It is best to check with HR to confirm what the policy for your office is.
