Mckinsey ban period

Hi, if I received an 18-month ban from applying to McKinsey (got rejected during the initial screening phase) and apply again before that period ends, will I be automatically rejected and have the 18-month ban reset? Or will the ban period remain unchanged even if I'm automatically rejected?

Thanks

Hi there,

First of all, I am sorry to hear about the rejection from McKinsey!

I would be happy to share my thoughts on your question:

  • First of all, I wonder why you would consider applying during the ban period, knowing that it is still valid. What is the reason for this?
  • Moreover, I would highly advise you to simply wait and contact the recruiter when you feel you have made significant progress and a reasonable amount of time has passed to know for sure whether or not you can reapply.

Hi there,

I believe it would not reset.

You can sometimes shorten the ban by

  • showing significant improvements on your resume
  • getting a strong referral from an AP/Partner

All the best,
