McKinsey background check duration

It really depends - I've been through it twice as they re-checked my background when I moved office (seemed unnecessary but so it goes!). The first time was a few weeks, the second time was much longer as the USA office was trying to find out information from UK employers. It's worth asking the company running the checks if you're anxious 

It usually takes 2 weeks but depends on whether there’s any issues to dig into or the volume of checks etc. 

It depends on the ‘complexity’ of your CV. But 2-4 weeks is a good range. Good luck!

• Since the duration of background checks can vary depending on the complexity of your application files, the country where the check is being conducted, and the responsiveness of the organizations and individuals being contacted for verification, there really is not a singular duration.
• However, on average, I would assume the background check process to take anywhere from 2 to 4 weeks to complete. Nonetheless, this does not necessarily mean that the earliest start date for you will be delayed by this time, as the offer and employment will be preliminary until the background check is finished.

It can vary, as you might expect, but on average it takes a couple of weeks. The office admin should keep you updated on the progress.
