MBB Drug Testing

I know certain clients drug test on the occasion (not the firms themselves). However, does this apply to interns as well? Is there any possibility at all I will be drug tested at MBB as a summer intern?

Hi there,

in certain markets (e.g. US), there is a possibility, while probability fairly low. That said, strongly recommend that you take the safe approach and don't gamble here.

All the best.

Hi there,

I have personally never heard of this. However, in Washington D.C., for example, where there are government clients, it's possible this is an expectation.

My advice? Regardless of whether it's tested or not, maybe abstain altogether during an incredibly important intership :)

Hi,

I have not heard this happen among contacts/colleagues in various countries, especially not for interns.

In addition to the sound advice here on being risk adverse, maybe you could also check with HR what are all the processes after receiving the offer and before starting.

Hi there,

Depending on the industry, you might, but it's rather unlikely.

Only certain industries and clients perform drug testing.

But when they do, everybody is tested. Not only interns, but Partners, EMs, everybody.

I did mining studies and I would get tested for alcohol every morning and sometimes also during the day.

So do keep away from the bad stuff for sure.

Best,
Cristian

How much of a warning did you get before being alerted you would be tested for alcohol? Is drinking on weekends not in the norm?

You don't get a heads-up.
It's ok to drink, but not be above the drinking limit when you are tested. So it's ok to have 1-2 beers the night before if you are tested the following morning. But not 6 :)
