Hi,
I had 2 partner interviews in second round. After one week HR said that I need to have another round with a senior partner who leads overall region (so a very senior partner). I had the round 2 days ago. It was a general conversation where he asked me about my experience and some fit questions. Nothing technical/case related. At the end he also answered my question in details and said “let’s hope to continue our conversation” (don’t get the last part meaning).
I thought if you dont get a call same day it’s A rejection. Is that true?
Why was interview with senior partner scheduled as it was not planned earlier?
update: one more final round interview scheduled with a partner. HR mentioned overal feedback is positive but wanted to test some more areas.
Just heard back from HR. They want another interview (4th interview in final round as thet arent able to decide yet). Feedback is generally positive but they want to test more. Dont know if that is just a reason to reject or they have other candidates in the pipeline that they are interviewing.
Will keep the community posted.
This means that you're still in the race - congrats on that first of all!
If you get an extra interview it's most likely what some consulting firms call a "3rd look". This likely means that in the previous round, one of the interviews was on the stronger side, one on the weaker side, but still good enough (assuming you had 2 in that round) - so the interviewers simply couldn't conclude in either direction with 100% confidence.
What this practically means is that if you do well on the 4th round, chances to receive an offer are very high. As other coaches mentioned, the firm just wants to be very sure, before they make a hiring decisions.
Good luck with the final round!
