Managing Director is not equivalent to local CEO at BCG. If you check an office, you will see several MDs, but that office will be related to one CEO only (although the CEO is also MD). 

Moreover, when one of the MDs also acts as local CEO, he doesn’t do so as CEO for an office, but for a country or a group of countries.

The number of MDs depends on the office size, so there is not a predefined number.

BCG Managing Directors - more popularly known as “Managing Director & Partner” - is the title for a partner at BCG. Each MDP is partner of the firm. Last I believe, BCG had 1500-2000 MDPs worldwide.

BCG Office CEO - are better known as “Office Administrator”. Each OA is an MDP - in general. OAs are chosen internally.

BCG CEO is only 1 worldwide. CEO is chosen by all worldwide BCG MDPs collectively.

Managing Director at BCG = Partner. Full title for Partners at BCG is “Managing Director and Partner”.

Usually, there are several MDs/ Partners for each office (same with most consulting firms). Each office usually also has the “Managing Partner”, who is probably the closest thing to the “CEO of the office”

There is only one global CEO for BCG (same for most consulting firms)

Rich Lesser is the CEO of BCG at the moment. There is only one CEO.

An office will have at least 1 Managing Director, but almost always has more. The bigger the office, the more managing directors (Partners)

A Managing Director is a Partner. The number of Managing Directors per office depends on the size of the office, but somewhere between 10-50 is about average. There is only one CEO at BCG, though they will also have Partners responsible for different geographies (e.g. Europe, EMEA).
