Hi,

I made a switch from T2 to MBB. Here are the key reasons why:

  1. More prestige/branding
    1. I did well in T2, but I wanted to know if I could do well in MBB as well
  2. Better growth / learning
    1. More types of projects, more clients, more 'prestigious' clients
    2. More high calibre and diverse people I could learn from
  3. Better exit opportunities
    1. Because of better branding and recognition in the market, exit opportunities were wider
    2. After joining MBB i got approached by headhunters for opportunities that I never were offered in the T2
  4. Better pay
    1. Pay was higher even at my same level, and in the long term trajectory MBB partners earn more than Big4/T2 partners

#1, 2, 3 were the key reason. #4 was a nice bonus.

Hi,

Agree with Benjamin. Makes sure to evaluate the cons as well if you’re considering this move. The main ones may be the long hours and impact on your personal life, plus the ongoing pressure to perform under tight deadlines. That takes a toll on your mental health and overall wellbeing.

Best,

Mari

You can look at this transition from this angle:

Imagine you’re playing in a strong regional orchestra — well-known, respected, and with good musicians. But you get the chance to join the Berlin Philharmonic.

You’re already a skilled player, and the orchestra you’re in has given you great experience. But moving to the Philharmonic means access to world-class conductors, more complex performances, international tours, and a brand that opens doors everywhere.

So why make the jump?

Not because the current orchestra is “bad.” But because the next one offers more challenge, exposure, and long-term growth.

Best

Hi there!

Actually, there are lots of reasons: more prestige, better compensation, better brand, better exit opportunities, etc. I see some of them have been mentioned already by other coaches.

I'd recommend you find a couple of people on LinkedIn who made this transition and have a coffee chat with them. These will make for priceless conversations. Not only will you understand why they did the transition, but how it felt for them to adjust to the new environment.

Best,
Cristian
