Hello. I always see strategy& consultants in Beirut and Dubai offices with engineering or finance degrees. I hold a math and computer science degree and am wondering if I would be attractive to the firm since my profile is uncommon from what I have seen.
In fact, the “best” consultant in our Sydney office was an ex professional violinist who played at the Sydney Opera House. My first Partner was a former professional flautist. I worked with consultants who were doctors, lawyers, English majors, and more in a prior life.
Math and computer science is a fantastic background for consulting. It demonstrates strong quantitative, analytical, and problem solving ability.
However, being different is not enough. You need to package your profile properly, network extensively, and ideally apply with a referral. Do not reject yourself because most of the profiles you have seen studied engineering or finance. Let Strategy& decide!

Absolutely. A Math + CS degree can actually be a strong profile for Strategy&. The fact that it’s less common than engineering or finance isn’t a disadvantage. What matters is showing that you can combine analytical problem solving with commercial thinking and communicate clearly.
I’d particularly position your CS background around digital, AI, technology and data driven strategy, while making sure your application doesn’t come across as purely technical. Your degree can be a differentiator if you connect it to business impact.
