Joining Date After being accepted

Dear all,

Any idea on when McKinsey expects people to join and start working after they have been notified that they are accepted? 1 month?

Thanks,

Hi there,

In the current environment, the sooner the better if it were up to McKinsey! That being said, there's generally a lot of flexibility regarding start date.

You can often negotiate/agree on a delay up to various months. This is especially true if you have a good reason e.g. get some personal things in order before starting this intense career.

Hope this helps a bit. Best of luck!

Hey there -

Congrats on the offer. This is a bit dependent on the level you are starting at and the location.

In London at the consultant level, they have ~4 start classes per year and you can pick one of those. They have a preference for picking one at the soonest.

At the levels above consultant, they are looking to hire people ASAP due to the current shortages.

Hello!

Congrats (I guess heheh)

This totally depends on the geography, the need, the role… basically goes totally case by case. If you tell them you need longer for whatever reason (e.g., other job that you need to finish, holidays, personal comitments, etc.) I have always seen them accommodating.

Hope it helps!

Cheers,

Clara

Hi there,

You need to give us more info here…what recruiting channel and what office?

From MBAs you start 1 year, sometimes 1.5 years after getting the offer.

As an experienced hired they would normally count in weeks or single digit months.

Generally, they will be flexible and give you options. That said, they may have a set limit as they need boots on the ground now.

Regardless, they will tell you, not us…

Hi there,

The most important thing to know here is that starting times are flexible. They usually try to schedule it so that you begin in a period when there are lots of projects (that's why there are few people starting in summer or the Xmas holidays), but you can also ask for the start date to be deferred. This way you can enjoy life a bit more before the real fun starts.

Best,

Cristian

It depends on the office and your role.  Generally there are a few set start dates in the year which you will be allocated or can choose. Best you just ask your recruiter.
