Is the video question on the BCG Casey Test always related to the final question?

I was doing a mock Casey test expecting that they'd make summarize the entire case at the end. However, it only related to the final question. If I had known, I would have written down my answers to that final question (I couldn't go back) and pulled relevant numbers from exhibits for the recommendation.

Does anyone have any input on this subject? How to best prepare the recommendation while you are going through the Casey questions?

Thanks.

Hi there,

1) Is the video question on the BCG Casey Test always related to the final question?

The video question could either be related to a sum up of the case or a specific question asked by the chatbot.

2) How to best prepare the recommendation while you are going through the Casey questions?

A simple tip is to sum up your notes after the chatbot and before you move to the video part. But probably the most effective way is to do mocks of the video interview itself.

If you want to test your skills with the video interview, I created a software simulation that includes:

  • 4 One-Way Video Interviews. These come with Artificial Intelligence assessments, so that you can see how the software will perceive your performance in terms of voice, speech clarity, energy and more, and get an actual report about that.
  • 4 Casey Software Simulations of the Chatbot. These are live chatbots simulating exactly the same chatbot environment of the test (meaning you will receive questions from an actual chatbot with a flow equivalent to the one of the test).
  • 2 PDF Simulations of the Chabot. These are additional tests Casey-style, meaning you will have 6 different Casey Chatbots to train with overall.
  • Free access to 6 PSTs and Potential Tests for further practice.
  • Deep explanation of all the 5 types of questions asked in the BCG Online Case thanks to the complimentary 144-page guide.

You can get access to the software simulation and guide instantly here:

For any questions on the test please feel free to PM me, I will reply within 12 hours.

Francesco

Agree with the other coaches here - to mitigate this from happening in the future, just make sure you take clean, organized notes, then you typically won't lose your information.

A few small tips and tricks that should help..

  1. Stay organized: label each question chronologically and ringfence any notes related
  2. Ensure sufficient spacing between different questions notes. Easier to read when the paper is not over-crowded.
  3. Highlight key answers: use a highlighter or mark with different color to make stand out the main takeaways as you go through the case. This makes the key points easier and faster to find at a later stage.

Hope this helps.

Cheers, Andi

Hi there,

In the Casey test, in a case interview, and in life (on a consulting project), you should always be keeping track of what you're finding out and what your objective is.

My advice is to take notes and keep an organized sheet of paper with you to keep key insights/numbers.

Your Q&A is a bit confusing to me because honestly every Casey Test I've seen allows you to move forward and back in the test.

Hi there,

I think this is an interesting question that may be relevant for many people. I would be happy to share my thoughts on it:

  • With BCG's Casey pre-interview assessment, you are either asked to summarize your findings across all questions or elaborate on one of them. Therefore, I would highly advise you to have well-structured notes on all of your questions.
  • Moreover, since the timer is typically paused between the questions and the video answer, I would advise you to recap the questions by taking a second look at your notes.

If you would like a more detailed discussion on authentic BCG Casey sets, please don't hesitate to contact me directly.

Best,

Hagen

Hello A,

The video question may not always relate to the final question, as it can also be a recommendation or a creativity question.

In addition to the advice provided by others, I suggest the following:

  • Take notes of your calculations and numbers. This is important because in the final question, you may be asked to comment on a number you previously calculated. If you didn't have enough time during the case, this is your opportunity to make a strong comeback by mentioning the correct number and providing insights based on it in the video.

Wishing you the best of luck with everything.

Best,

Victoria
