Bain Dubai has been hiring actively. The Middle East is busy with Vision 2030 and big transformation projects. But they hire in waves, not continuously.

Several months with no feedback is usually not a good sign. But the fact that they gave you the test means they were considering you. Whether that window is still open, only the recruiter knows.

Send one short email to the recruiter. Something like "I completed the assessment on [date] and wanted to check on my application status. I'm still very interested in Bain Dubai." Don't follow up more than once.

If you don't hear back within a week, that's your answer. Move on and reapply next cycle.

If it doesn't work out, you can always try again. Middle East MBB offices are open to repeat applicants. I've worked with many people who got in on their second or third try. The key is showing growth between attempts.

Follow up once, get your answer, and plan from there.

It's incredibly frustrating to put in the effort for a test and then hear nothing back – you're definitely not alone in that experience, especially with offices like Dubai.

The reality with these firms, particularly in specific international offices, is that hiring windows can be quite cyclical and capacity-driven. Tests often serve as a preliminary filter to build a pool of qualified candidates. If they aren't actively hiring for your specific profile or experience level right at that moment, or if their current cohort is full, they'll simply hold onto your results or move on without providing individual feedback. It's not a reflection of your potential, but often just a timing mismatch with their immediate needs.

What this usually means is that their hiring pipeline for your role might have closed, or they're not in an active recruiting phase. Your best bet is to assume they're not currently moving forward with your application from that specific test. Consider looking into their next official recruiting cycle – typically an annual event – or exploring other offices if you have the flexibility. Trying to connect with someone from Bain Dubai on LinkedIn might also give you a more real-time pulse on their hiring plans.

Hope this helps clarify!

Hey!

Just reach out to HR & ask - I would just call them! That's the easiest way to get your answer.

If you were invited to the test, they should be hiring otherwise it wouldn't have made any sense to send it to you.

If you haven't heard back in months, something must've gone wrong. So do send a polite follow-up to the recruiter to find out. And in the meantime, start working on other applications.

Things like these can always happen with consulting applications, which is why it's crucial to diversify. Have a look at this article in which I explain in more detail how to approach the application process:
