Bcg Lagos business analyst program has two interviews
I passed my bcg Lagos online test and I have been moved into the first round interview. It said they want to test my fit and motivation for this role.it is only 15mins will this interview have a case analysis to be ready for or should I focus on my motivations and fit

Congratulations on making it to the next round — that’s already a big milestone.
Here’s a clear breakdown for your 15-minute first-round interview at BCG Lagos (Business Analyst Program):
What You Should Expect
- Main Focus: Fit and motivation, as clearly stated — this means your personal story, “Why BCG?”, “Why consulting?”, and relevant experiences.
- Case Likelihood: Low in a 15-minute slot — full cases usually require 25–40 minutes. However, it’s not impossible that they might throw in a short market sizing, brainteaser, or a light business problem to test your structure and clarity of thought.
What to Do:
- Confirm with HR if you haven’t already — they’ll appreciate your professionalism.
- Be fully ready for fit questions, such as:
- Tell me about yourself
- Why BCG / Why consulting?
- Describe a time you showed leadership / faced conflict / solved a tough problem
- What are your career goals?
- Light prep on short, non-technical cases, like:
- Estimate the number of ATMs in Lagos
- A telco’s profit dropped — what would you explore?
If you’d like, I can run you through a 2-minute market sizing and help refine your “Why BCG” and personal pitch.
Lastly — treat this like a real interview. Once you’re in the room, you’re being evaluated for everything: how you speak, how you think, how structured you are, and how well you connect with your interviewer
Let me know how you want to prep!

Hi Florentina,
First of all, congratulations on the progress in the application process with BCG thus far!
I would be happy to share my thoughts on your question:
- First of all, I would strongly advise you not to ponder whether a case study is involved, if they told you the contents of the interview and did not mention one. Besides, please keep in mind that you should have mastered solving case studies by now anyway.
- Moreover, these initial calls are typically used to validate your motivation and overall fit with the consulting firm. Therefore, I would advise you to prepare short, clear answers to “Why BCG?”, “Why consulting?”, and, e.g., “What are your strengths and weaknesses?”. Also, have a quick career walk-through as well as examples from your experience that show leadership, teamwork, or problem-solving ready.
You can find more on this topic here: How to succeed in the final interview round.
If you would like a more detailed discussion on how to best prepare for your upcoming BCG interviews, please don't hesitate to contact me directly.
Best,
Hagen

Hi there,
Congrats on passing the online test – that’s a great first step!
For the 15-minute first-round interview, especially since BCG Lagos specified it will focus on fit and motivation, you should prioritize:
- Why consulting?
- Why BCG (and specifically BCG Lagos)?
- Why now / why you?
- Clear examples that show leadership, problem-solving, teamwork, and resilience.
It's unlikely this short session will include a full case. However, do be ready for a light business discussion or a mini case-style question (e.g., “Tell me how you’d approach solving XYZ”). So have your structured thinking ready, just in case.
The second round is more likely to contain formal case interviews.
Focus on your story, motivations, and communication clarity for this first one – and good luck!
Happy to help you prep – feel free to reach out.
Best,
Evelina

Hi Florentina,
Well done on passing the test! In terms of your question:
Q: It said they want to test my fit and motivation for this role.it is only 15mins will this interview have a case analysis to be ready for or should I focus on my motivations and fit
Usually these calls include:
- Alignment on the next steps of the process and/or
- Fit-only interview (your case)
Some common questions they might ask are:
- Tell me about yourself
- Why consulting
- Why BCG
- Give me an example of when you led a team
- Tell me about a time when you had to convince someone
- What has been your major achievement so far
- Tell me about a time when you failed
- Why should we hire you
Good luck!
Francesco

If they’ve said it’s fit and motivation based, you will not have a case. 15 mins only is also an indicator.
Nonetheless, I’d suggest starting your case prep as early as possible!

Hello,
That’s an HR screening, not a case interview. Typical questions/prompts include:
why BCG?
why Consulting?
walk me through your resume.
Make sure to tell your story in a way that highlights the strengths they value, showing that consulting is a natural next step for you given those + your interests.
Best,
Mari

Since it's only 15 min I would be surprised if it has a case element, Florentina.
But still, when in doubt about the format of the interview, always reach out to the recruiter and ask them. That's what they are there for - to liaise with candidates and ensure they have all the necessary info to do their best on interview day.
Best,
Cristian
