I completed the BCG X coding assessment (400/600) 5 business days ago, but my application still shows ‘Assessment Requested’ and I haven’t received any update — should I keep waiting or consider it a rejection?

Hello,
I completed the BCG X coding assessment on CodeSignal for the Software Engineer role and scored 400/600. It has been 5 business days, but I have not received any update, not even a rejection email. I also noticed that my application status on the platform still shows “Assessment Requested.” Should I continue waiting, or does this indicate a soft rejection?

Hi there,

Q: It has been 5 business days, but I have not received any update, not even a rejection email. I also noticed that my application status on the platform still shows “Assessment Requested”.

The 5 business days do not look unusual, it is quite common to get replies a few weeks after a test; thus, I would not read anything into it.

The fact that they indicate the assessment is still requested might be a notification bug in their system. Regarding that, I would recommend calling HR to be sure that they have received everything correctly.

Good luck!

hey there :)

Five business days isn’t long yet, BCG X often takes 1–2 weeks to update statuses after coding assessments, sometimes longer if they’re batching candidates. The “Assessment Requested” tag is just the system not being updated, it doesn’t mean rejection. A 400/600 is a competitive but not top score, so your outcome may depend on the overall pool.

I’d recommend waiting another week before following up with HR. At this stage, it’s neither a rejection nor an offer, just pending review.

best, Alessa :)
