How to Structure a Concise and Compelling Self-Introduction Slide

I have an interview with KPMG in the consulting sector and have been asked to prepare a PowerPoint presentation with one slide introducing myself, my professional background, and my motivation. How can I best present this information, and how much of my résumé should I include, given that the interviewers are already familiar with it and I do not want to repeat myself?

Hello! I’d focus less on rehashing your full CV and more on creating a narrative that connects the dots between who you are, what you’ve done, and why you’re motivated for this role. A good 1-slide intro usually has three parts:

  1. Who you are today: 1-2 lines summarising your professional identity (e.g., “Strategy consultant with X+ years in digital transformation projects across healthcare and banking”)
  2. Key highlights about your impact: 3-4 bullets of your most relevant achievements (not a full work history)
  3. Motivation & fit: a short statement on why you’re excited about KPMG and this specific role, ideally linked to your skills and/or values.

To make the visual compelling, keep text to a minimum (always large font size) and use icons or timelines for clarity. 

With this, the interviewer will get who you are, why you are there, and will be curious to learn more! Good luck!

Hi there,

You can keep the slide clear and visually balanced by using a simple two-column layout:

  • Left side: Professional photo at the top, your name right below, and 1–2 short lines capturing your personal/professional “headline.”
  • Right side:
    1. Motivation – 2–3 concise bullet points on why you want this role at KPMG.
    2. Professional highlights – 3 bullet points with your most relevant achievements.
    3. Education – 1–2 key degrees or certifications.

Keep fonts large, use whitespace, and limit each bullet to 1-2 lines. This way, the slide looks polished, easy to scan, and supports your spoken introduction rather than replacing it.

Moment to shine: Treat this as a mini pitch, not a résumé recap.
 

  1. Motivation first – open with 1–2 powerful lines on why you’re here and why KPMG/consulting excites you.
  2. Who you are – 2–3 short lines about your background (role, industry, core expertise). Use icons or small visuals for sectors/skills to keep it visual.
  3. Key achievements – 2–3 highlights that show measurable impact or unique strengths (quantify where possible).
  4. Design – clean layout, plenty of white space, minimal text, one or two relevant graphics.

Rule: If it’s already on your CV, only include it here if you can present it visually or with extra context that adds personality.
