I've used Preplounge to practice casing once in while. Recently I felt that it is getting more and more challenging to find experienced case partners on this platform. While I have managed to schedule 2 sessions this week, both meetings was canceled in short notice. Any efficient ways to find experienced case partners on PrepLounge or any other places? Would appreciate your advice.
How to find experienced case partners
Hi,
A couple of things that usually help:
1. Be more selective on PrepLounge
Don’t send random requests.
Look for people with:
- many completed cases
- good reviews
- similar level to yours
And send a short, clear message. It already filters out a lot of flakiness.
2. Build a small group of reliable partners
The biggest mistake is starting from zero every time.
If you find 2–3 good people:
- stick with them
- schedule recurring sessions
Way more efficient than constantly searching.
3. Set expectations upfront
Be clear on:
- your level
- what you want to practice
- seriousness (e.g., cancellations, timing)
Good candidates care about this.
Also, honest point: at some stage, just doing more peer cases is not enough. You can get stuck repeating the same mistakes.
That’s where a bit of targeted coaching can help, not as a replacement, but to:
- identify what’s really holding you back
- give you direction
- save time
You don’t need a lot of sessions, but having someone experienced look at your performance can make a big difference.
If you want, feel free to DM
Hey,
I hear you -- hearing a kind of similar complaint from my coachees.
For my coachees, what worked was being a bit clearer about their preferences on their profile (e.g., "Looking for serious experienced partners, please don't book my slot if you have done <10 cases or if your schedule is subject to change :)" )
Hope this helps!
Tom
Hi there,
I’m sorry to hear about your frustrating experience finding strong case partners. Unfortunately, because casing can sometimes be unpredictable, occasional negative experiences are difficult to avoid. That said, there are several steps you can take to improve your chances of finding reliable partners:
- Review potential partners’ profiles carefully, including ratings and feedback from previous peers.
- Explore multiple casing platforms to widen your pool of potential partners.
- When you find someone who is reliable, delivers cases effectively, and provides high-quality feedback, consider building a longer-term partnership by scheduling multiple sessions together.
Many candidates find this approach highly effective, as it creates consistency and benefits both parties. Ideally, I recommend maintaining a small network of around 3–4 dependable partners throughout your preparation process, giving you a reliable group to practice with regularly.
Best of luck with your preparation!
Annika
Hi there,
I'm sorry to hear about this.
Overall, there are fewer candidates at the moment because recruiting is off-season and the market is at a low point.
However, keep on looking for the right people.
Typically, what I recommend my candidates do is to try out 5-6 people and find the 1-2 who are reliable and good. That is, they come prepared and are committed to helping you as long as you also help them. Once you've identified these people, you can then schedule sessions with them more often.
Best,
Cristian
Hi there,
Case coaches are expensive, but you do have to remember what you're getting for it (imagine trying to train for the olympics with friends).
That said, for experienced candidates, you can filter for them on the platform. You should expect a 50% cancellation rate — book with people with high ratings (and rate those that don't show up as 0).
