How to become a Power Point Wizard?

Dear all,

I´m currently doing a consulting internship and would like to 1) increase my efficiency doing slides in Power Point and to 2) spot formatting errors better while doing slides (experienced consultants see certain mistakes I would never see right now). Of course experience matters but I know I can do better.

Any tutorials on the internet that are helpful? Are the ones on Preplounge recommended by the experts here?

Any tipps are highly appreciated.

P.S.: In the firm for which I currently work I see even fulltime juniors doing slides the whole day. So my question here is: where do they use the analytical thinking/ problem solving skills that they had to demonstrate in the interviews? In Excel I see a logic, however, Power Point seems rather primitive to me and I feel like junior consultants are more graphic designers than analytical, structured problem solvers with C-level communication skills.

Ex-MBB, Experienced Hire; I will teach you not only the how, but also the why of case interviews

There are free tutorials, as well as paid trainings. Remember though, all consultancies will have an add-on with shortcuts allowing you to increase your efficiency significantly.

Above all though - actual ppt proficiency isn't very important in the grand scheme of things; I laugh every time I see a student writing "PowerPoint proficiency". Excel, fine; PowerPoint... nah. What matters is how well you can tell a story, not how fast you figure out how to change the font on a slide.
