Hi there,

At BCG, the time between R2 results and the final Partner round usually ranges from a few days to about 1–2 weeks, depending on the office and scheduling availability.

In many cases:

  • You hear back within a few days if you’re progressing.
  • The final round is then scheduled within the next week or two.
  • Delays are often due to partner calendars rather than your performance.

If more than 10–14 days pass without an update, a short, polite follow-up to the recruiter is reasonable.

In short, a short gap is normal, and even a slight delay isn’t necessarily a negative signal.

Best,
Evelina

Hello!

At BCG, the time between R2 results and the final Partner round typically ranges from a few days up to 2 weeks, depending on the office and scheduling constraints.

In many cases:

  • If you pass R2, HR moves relatively quickly to schedule the final round
  • The main delay factor is usually Partner availability, not evaluation speed
  • Smaller offices may move faster; larger offices sometimes take longer due to coordination

If more than ~2 weeks pass without clarity, a polite follow-up to HR is completely appropriate.

Bottom line: expect roughly 1–2 weeks, but don’t over-interpret small delays — logistics often drive timing.

As a coach, I’m here to help you — we can use this waiting time strategically to sharpen your Partner-round readiness and maximize your chances of converting the final interview into an offer.

That gap between R2 results and the final Partner round is always the most painful waiting period—it feels like an eternity when you're in it.

The official timeline for an office that is actively recruiting (i.e., not waitlisting) is typically 5 to 10 business days, but you should prepare yourself mentally for up to two full weeks. This fluctuation almost never reflects negatively on your R2 performance. At this stage, you are a "yes" candidate, and the delay is entirely a logistics problem. Partners are high-value, billable assets, and finding five cumulative hours across 2-3 of them who are flying between client sites is an incredible coordination headache for the recruiting team.

If you hit the two-week mark (ten business days) without an update, a single, polite follow-up email to your recruiter is fine, just to confirm they have all your availability and correct contact information. Otherwise, your focus needs to shift entirely: assume the schedule is being worked out, and use this time to solidify your behavioral stories and practice cases for the high-level Partner lens.

All the best with the final stage!

It varies, but usually it is pretty quick. In most cases you hear back within a few days to a week after R2, and the final round is scheduled within one to two weeks after that.

BCG generally tries to move fast once you are in the final stages. They know good candidates have other options and they don't want to lose momentum. That said, timing can depend on partner availability, office size, and how busy the recruiting cycle is. Some offices are faster than others.

If it has been more than a week since R2 and you have not heard anything, it is totally fine to send a short, polite follow up to your recruiter asking about next steps and timing.

Once you get the R2 result, ask the recruiter directly when you should expect the final round. They will usually give you a clear window. And use whatever time you have to tighten up your PEI stories and do a few more case reps. The final round is not dramatically different, but the bar is higher and partners push harder.

Feel free to reach out if you want help preparing for the partner round.

So I'm assuming you are meant to have a 'third' round after R2 which is going to be with a Partner?

If that's the case, typically it's in less than two weeks, but it can vary.

What's critical is to get clarity from the R2 feedback so you know what to work on for the final interview.

Cristian

hey there :)

Typically it is around one to two weeks between R2 results and the final partner round, sometimes even faster depending on office scheduling and urgency. If you have not heard back after a week, it is totally fine to politely follow up.

best,
Alessa :)
