Hello community,
I am a senior consultant in a strategy consulting firm in middle east. During the assessment, they put me on a PIP as I did not get promoted in this cycle given that I got promoted in last cycle. (To note: it was not a me problem; as I worked with a principal and partner for a year of several projects like ipo, dd, and strategy; they did not put anyone on the team with me because as usual team was understaffed. Principal was super unhelpful, 0guidance. I raised the issue but they tried to gaslight me. I got very sick. Mentally drained and started getting physical symptoms. I have to go to the hospital several times for dehydration. ) anyways I know life is unfair and I have to deal with it. (This is just for context)
the important thing is now what should I do.
1) PiP is for 3 months. Very intensive. They want monthly reports. They want me to work outside my practice. They want me to have 70% utilization knowing that we dont have new projects. I have asked for unpaid leave for 3 months so that I can recover mentally and put a plan for myself first. The HR refused saying its within the policy; however since i insisted, he scheduled a call with the regional HR personnel tomorrow. How should i position it to take this leave?
2. They want me to sign on the pip doc they shared on the call. The doc contains 2 slides (what are my developmental areas and how to reach it and the second slide is a template to fill). Should i sign this right now if they agreed on taking unpaid leave? The reason im asking is that im thinking of leaving the firm but i need some time to think before i take this decision. Im afraid the pip will contain issues related to my let go of the firm. At the same time I dont feel comfortable asking HR that as they will think that I want to leave.
3. How to handle all of this stress esp when it is unfair.
4. What should i do if they refused unpaid leave?? Working that intensely in the next 3 months means Im gna fail that.
5. Anything additional I need to know about or ask for regarding PIP??
6. If I signed PIP, and took unpaid leave, would I still be able to resign during the unpaid leave??
