Hi there,

  • Can you take one occasional Friday off in the next 1-2 months? Yes (assuming you are not under strict deadlines and you manager is ok with that)
  • Can you regularly take Fridays off in the next 1-2 months? No. Would sound very suspicious for the firm. You don't want to jeopardize your current job for a possible offer

I would try to organize all your interviews in one day or during breaks (eg lunch) so that you won’t need to take too many days off.

Hope this helps,

Francesco

Not a good idea to do a 4-day work week just for preparation. You are in early days in the company, so make sure you are on your A game, are visible and doing a good job. Dont drop the ball. Use after work hours and weekends to prepare. Take an odd friday off here and there but dont make it a regular thing.

Are you asking us what your current boss will think if you're taking Friday's off to do consulting interviews?

Apart from: In Zoom interviews you won't need the full friday but typically just 2-3 hours, I'm not sure how anyone here can answer that question for you.

Hi there,

It's really hard to advise here. It would almost certainyl raise red flags if you're taking off every Friday for 2 months straight. Moreover, can I ask why you're interviewing with so many companies at once? I would highly recommend you target your companies a bit more. Additionally, it's unlikely that they will offer you only Friday interview slots. More likely, you'll have interviews at various times during the day that you'll have to manage.

I'm not sure this is a question for this forum where your circumstances are unique to your relationsihp with your current employer. It would be very irresponsible to give advice around whether to take time off or not, and when.

I do however worry about the sustainability of an employer who is willing to pay employees 5-days for 4-days of work... Perhaps the fact that you are already starting to look for a new job is a good thing.
