In fact, the demand for ex-MBB consultants is extremely high. I get reached out to on a weekly basis for projects that require ex-MBB consultants.
You really do get your pick of the litter here! You're able to select projects based on interest, time committment required, rate, etc.

Yes, it's easy and increasingly common. Either you work with small businesses solo OR work for larger companies in a team of several former MBB consultants.
There are also more and more firms popping up that broker former consultants to larger industrial clients.
It also helps to have a good network to get offered opportunities.

Yes indeed - I do that right now :)
Yes it is - and it is commen. Several models exists, from fully independent to working on a job basis within a network of former MBBs. Check out the website of a firm called Eden McCallum for example.
