Finished Bain Final Round | Zero Behavioral Questions…

I just finished my second round interview for Bain Chicago’s ACI position. In both the first and second round I got zero behavioral questions. Both rounds had two interviews each, and 90% of the time was spent on the case (with the remaining 10% being introductions and questions at the end). I felt great about my performance in the 2nd round, but was unfortunately rejected.

I am surprised, though, that they did not ask any behavioral questions. Is this normal? Were they mainly interested in how well I could case and communicate in a business setting?

Additional background: I am a business major from a target with a strong GPA, and I made zero mathematical or ”business concept” mistakes in the first round (according to feedback from first-round interviewers).

Sorry to hear about the rejection. Reaching the final round means your preparation is already quite solid, so hopefully you can manage to get an offer if other interviews opportunities arise. I would ask for feedback on the final if not provided already.

Bain started indeed to do interviews without fit questions in a few countries. I helped recently candidates for whom this happened in China, US and Singapore.

Hi there,

This is why I always emphasize/train my candidates in the attitude of “expect anything”.

The natural instinct is to try to predict what will happen and prepare for that; but we truly never know!

I would say this certainly isn't normal, but I'm also equally not surprised! Hope you were ready for it :)

Hi there,

I am sorry you didn't pass the case. Regarding FIT questions, I had a Bain candidate that told me the same - there would be no fit/behavioral questions in the first round.

I'm very sorry to hear about the rejection.

This situation sometimes happens but I don't believe it has much to do with your final result.

I'd ask for feedback on the final round if you haven't done so yet.
