I applied for a Fellow Consultant (Private Capital) Position. With a Solve Score of 542 / 10. Decile and a law degree from a target uni (studied under the minimum study duration, 2 years working experience part time in consulting and one year as a Researcher in Corporate Law and several Internships in Top Tier Law Firms) + several Publications in renowned law journals I was quite surprised that I got rejected for the interviews. My only weak point is my GPA of 2.1.
I know that I dont have the classical investment banking background that is common in this specific area; but I (and the seniors I spoke to) expected that I at least get the chance to prove myself in the interviews.
I would be thankful for your Insights, whether there are specific reasons for the rejection, if there is still a chance for my application (probably as a generalist or with referalls from other McKinsey Consultants and Companies they work for). And if a doctorate in my field and/or working experience in a smaller consulting firm in Private Capital would improve my Chances for a successful re-application.
