I want to receive updates regarding this question via email.

EY Summer Application (Business Consulting)

I have just received an email from the recruiters after 2 months of doing the Online Assessment, saying that EY does not have a role for me at the moment but also mentioned that I have a positive result and would like to keep my application and would invite me to resume my application from where I left off. Does anyone have any experience with this? If yes, should I email to ask if I can be placed in another division?

Hi there,

That's quite strange. It doesn't happen often.

It's good news though that you had a good result and a clear sign that they're interested in keeping you.

Reach back to the recruiter (perhaps call if you have their number) and have a conversation with them about what other roles are open and which ones would be the best fit for you. You're likely to get more out of it this way than sending emails back and forth.

Best,

Cristian

Hi there,

Yes, this is a great result. This happens quite frequently especially during “down periods”.

I'd propose a call and talk them through the roles/divisions you're interested in. Lacking that, make a note to reach out to them in a few months to see if anything has opened up.

Hi there,

First of all, I am sorry to hear about this very unusual and frustrating experience!

This is indeed an interesting question which is probably relevant for a lot of users, thus I am happy to provide my perspective on it:

  • It sounds like you received a positive result on your assessment with EY and that the recruiters would like to keep your application on file for future opportunities.
  • In terms of whether you can email to ask about being placed in another division, it's definitely worth reaching out to the recruiters to inquire about this. It's possible that there may be opportunities in other divisions that would be a good fit for you, and the recruiters may be able to provide more information about this.
  • Keep in mind that the recruitment process can vary from company to company and division to division, so it's best to follow up directly with the recruiters to get the most accurate and up-to-date information.

In case you want a more detailed discussion on what to do in your specific situation, please feel free to contact me directly.

Best,

Hagen

That's not very common, only happens as an exception, and usually when recruiting plans changed… they want to hire you, but don't really need you now. They may also have less roles for interns than for new full time employees, so it's fair if sometimes they are unable to give everyone an offer (particularly now that the business is lukewarm).

Your suggestion of trying a different service line is actaully a very good approach.

Hi there,

I fear you might have been affected by the general recruiting slowdown/hiring freeze rather than the performance on your end.

For that matter, it would definitely make sense to keep the communication channels open with HR and ask them transparently about your best options at this point.

Fingers crossed!

Florian

Hello,

Sorry to hear about this situation.

I think your best plan of action should be to write to HR about alternative placement opportunities and keep showing interest.

However, I wouldn't keep much hope if I were you - as it's possible that they are freezing hiring across the board. Start focussing more on other companies.

All the best!

Rushabh
