EY MENA Case Studies in Valuation, Modelling and Economics

Hello!

I am applying to EY MENA (VME department) and about to have two case studies. I was told that one of them will be to build the model from scratch. I wonder how long the task can be and what the format can be. For ex. will I be given three financial statements of ABC company and asked to build the model? Or anything like this.

Hi there,

from what i've seen (limited exposure though), such case studies expect you to be able to translate case information into financial pro-formas and valuation models, which indeed may include building integrated financial statements.

In terms of prep, make sure you conceptually understand key valuation concepts (DCF, WACC, CAPM etc) and practice Excel-based modelling of such.

For more detailed information, it's always a good idea to check with HR on the expectation, screen websites like Glassdoor and speak to professionals who have gone through the selection process before. This should give you sufficient insight.

Hope this helps.

Regards, Andi

Hi there,

Try not to “predict” this one. There are honestly a range of scenarios that this could be.

Rather, control for what you can. That is, learn modeling, learn how to take a dataset and build a model. Period.

You're essentially trying to get control over something, but knowing whether you will have 3 statements or 4, or need 3 tabs in your model or 5 tabs doesn't really help. Make sense?

In this platform people are mostly aware about strategy consulting interviews. I suggest you search at Glassdoor for that kind of information.

Hi there,

This is a great question but realistically the best answer to this you're going to get from the recruiter, not from us.

Everything that has to do with the structure of the interview tends to change often and differs from office to office and role to role.

It's always best to check directly with the source.

Best,
Cristian
