Experienced Hire Application Process

Recently I have come across many consulting firms job advertisements in website’s/ LinkedIn  requires or desires one to have an MBA. Degree.

Do they imply by the  individuals who had already  been graduated  & have an MBA degree   or does the  current  year MBA students in their final year's having relevant work experience can  also  apply/ eligible for such positions ?

Hi there,

Generally it means you will have the degree by the time you start. So, final year should work.

That said, be careful just applying into the abyss of a LinkedIn job posting. The hit rate on these is very low!

Make sure to network beforehand, and, ideally, already be in touch with the recruiter and/or have a referral.

Hi there,

Of course it depends and this is a great thing to reach out to the recruiter about.

However, typically they are targeting non-students, since MBA students often don't have the years of experience.  That being said, if you do, by all means, reach out to the recruiter and make your mark!  They will typically be flexible to get the right candidates to apply.

Hope this helps,

Allen

Hi there,

If it is listed as a requirement, they would expect you to have the MBA when you start working. So depending on the firm and the application cycles, you can and actually should apply in advance.

If you are still unsure, you can directly contact them as well.

Hello!

Normally it´s listed. If it´s for people who are in their MBA, it normally says “MBA applicants graduating by …”

Cheers,

Unless they specifically state most-MBA experience as a requirement, you can apply if you are in your final year and not very far away from graduation date (otherwise you'll be wasting your time - they will likely want to fill the position within 2-3 few months, and may be willing to wait a bit more for the right candidate, but if they were thinking of someone who is yet to graduate they would make a different job post).
