Experience and recommendations for first round interviews (fit especially) at Roland Berger

Hi,

If someone has experience in first round of interviews at RB, I would be grateful to hear her/his tips. Especially tips on fit interview is appreciated, because once in another firm I was not selected for the second round, especifically for the fit interview although I cracked the cases well. I don't want this to happen again, and if you have any tips or recommendation on how to crack the fit interview it would be great! Thanks.

Hi!

Roland Berger tends to ask more questions relating to sector or functional expertise (given that usually people need to apply to a certain practice at RB). Hence, the cases tend to be more technical and less conceptual, compared to McKinsey and BCG. However, you still need rigorous structuring and ability to hypothesize on the grounds of incomplete information.

Cheers, Sidi

One more notion regarding the analytical test, which is part of the first round assessment at Roland Berger: it is a classical IQ test, consisting of different parts. This is how it looks like:

1. Verbal Part
1.1 Complete incomplete sentences
1.2 Analogies (Hat:Head --> Shoe:?)
1.3 Finding categories (6 items are given, can be clubbed into 3 categries)

2. Numerical Part
2.1 Mental math, solving equations
2.2 Complete number sequences
2.3 Fill operators into given equations

3. Figural Part
3.1 put together disassembled figures
3.2 Turn dices
3.3 Matrices
