Do you have to suggest reasons for trends in the exhibit (for eg why costs may be increasing or revenues decreasing) or do you just need to identify the major trends and say what you want to look at next (eg benchmark against industry or look into further breakdown)

Think about it this way: How can you discuss next steps if you have no hypothesis what causes the changes in the data that you see. First, focus on what you can see, then what it could mean, and lastly, what you can do about it.
