Do Interviewers Call for Acceptances and Recruiters for Rejections?

Hello,

I contacted someone who had interviewed me for MBB and he basically said that he's surprised I haven't heard back yet and that recruiting should have contacted me by end of day tomorrow.

Are rejection calls typically made by recruiters and acceptance calls typically made by the interviewers themselves?

This is for Bain, if that helps.

Hello,

Don't read too much into this - the processes can vary by office and year. At initial rounds recruiting might be doing more of the calls (both rejections and acceptances), at final rounds it is more typical for the interviewer to call, but it really does depend on many factors so don't read too much into it. Best of luck!

Hi, it depends on the interviewers and their agendas, it's not a clear sign of rejection at all

Hi there,

If this is final round, then usually both offer and turn down calls will happen by the interviewer themselves.

If it is before first round, usually comms go through email but this varies massively office to office.

Best of luck!!

Hey there,

Depends on the company and the specific region/office.

In most cases (firms and offices), both calls are conducted by interviewers.

Cheers,

Florian

Hi there,

No, there is no such rule. Nor is there a rule about how many days after the interview you should be informed about the outcome.

I know it's frustrating to wait, but try to be patient and if more than a 1-2 weeks have passed by, then reach out to the recruiter and ask for an update on your application.

Best,

Cristian

Yes and no - typically interviewers do call for acceptance and recruiters do call for rejections but interviewers also do let you know if you have not made it. There is no fixed rule on these things.

Hi there,

Honestly, it's such a case-by-case basis. It depends on the office, the recruiting channel, the role, the time of year, how busy the Partners are, etc.

Just stay patient. If they haven't reached out by mid next week then feel free to shoot them a message.

Hello!

No, not at all. Probably is a HR bottleneck of personnel shortage (is August at the end of the day…). If you don´t hear back by Monday, just kindly follow up with them.

Cheers,

Clara

Interviewers call for both acceptances and rejections - that is the norm.
