There a lot of tips and tricks that when it comes to quant calculations in case interviews. Specifically with respect to division , you can use distributive property . For example 96/8 can be translated to = (80/8) + (16/8) = 12

Hi there,

Long division is good. I think what you're struggling with is the speed, not the actual method.

Try instead doing fast math exercises. You can find some online. Feel free to reach out to me as well and I can share them with you (for free, obvs). I doubled my calc speed in two months when I was applying by doing speed math exercises so it's by all means possible. You just have to put in the work.

Best,

Cristian

Hi there,

Learn long division - it proves useful in many situations.

And, of course, learn “normal” division as well. Leverage fast math resources such as preplounge, rocketblocks, and math-drills.

Plenty of shortcuts to go around (which you'll see/learn as you practice!)

Just remember that division is actually multiplication but backwards. In other words, if you are fast at multiplication, you should be fast to get to the number by approximation.

Please understand that in most cases you are not required to perform divisions using complex numbers (you should ask to use round / easy-to-work-with numbers).
