Applied for the BA role at DP Riyadh 3 weeks ago but haven't heard back. Is it okay to reach out to the recruiter via Linkedin?

Hi there,

I think this is an interesting question that may be relevant for many people. I would be happy to share my thoughts on it:

  • If you haven't heard back after a reasonable amount of time, you can reach out to the recruiter via email or phone to inquire about the status of your application. Email is the most appropriate way of communication if you haven't communicated via phone before and if you want to stick to the communication medium that you have been using so far. However, if you want to speed up the process, you can reach out via phone as well.
  • When reaching out to the recruiter, make sure to keep it professional and respectful. You can mention that you applied for the role 3 weeks ago and you haven't heard back yet, and ask if they could provide an update or if they need any additional information from you.
  • Keep in mind that while it is good to follow up with the recruiter, it is also important to be respectful of the company's hiring process and timelines. They may have a different process and may take longer than you expect to get back to you.

If you would like a more detailed discussion on how to address your specific situation, please don't hesitate to contact me directly.

Best,

Hagen

Not sure why you would reach out through LinkedIn. Isn't there an official email you can use instead? I am certain there is - even if it is not specific to HR, they will forward it to the right people.

Hello!

It takes some weeks to get a reply so do not draw conclusions on the outcome of your application.

I would not hesitate reaching out to the general HR email, but I would suggest to do so in a kind manner. If you happen to have a competing offer, do mention that in your email specifying that DP / FTI remains your first choice.

Good luck,

Alessandro

Hi there,

LinkedIn is a bit forceful for this (assuming you've had no prior contact with the recruiter).

I would email them. That said, don't expect this to change the outcome - they will review when they plan to review.

Hi there,

I would rather send an email or, if you want to speed up things, call HR with the “excuse” to check if they received all the application material.

If you applied via referral, you can also ask your internal contact to check with HR.

Good luck!

Francesco
