Case Study for BCG Vantage/Knowledge Team

Hi all,

I have a quant-heavy case study coming up as part of my interview process for a role with BCG Vantage. Has anyone been through case studies for BCG knowledge team and also how does it look like compared to generalist management consulting case study? Tried to find information online but to no luck.

Any help would be appreciated, cheers!

I believe this is an interview that will have a higher weight on technical aspects. But to be on the safe side, you should do extensive research on Glassdoor and other forums where they discuss interview questions. And, of course, reach out to HR.

This will likely be a more technical interview than most generalist case studies. But, as other coaches have mentioned, you should reach out to HR for more details.

Hi there,

First of all, congratulations on the invitation from BCG!

I would be happy to share my thoughts on your question:

  • I haven't conducted any case studies for BCG Vantage, but I would strongly advise you to reach out to the recruiter and current BCG Vantage employees for more information, as they are the only ones who know for certain.

You can find more on this topic here: How to succeed in the final interview round.

If you would like a more detailed discussion on how to best prepare for your upcoming BCG interviews, please don't hesitate to contact me directly.

Best,

Hagen

Hey there :)

The BCG Vantage or Knowledge Team case studies are usually more data-driven and research-focused than generalist ones. You’ll likely get a mix of Excel-based analysis, data interpretation, and some synthesis tasks, less about open-ended frameworks, more about deriving insights from real or realistic data sets. Think: interpreting market trends, benchmarking, or quantifying impact based on a client question.

Compared to a generalist case, it’s typically less creativity, more precision. They’ll assess how you structure problems, cleanly analyze numbers, and communicate insights clearly.

If you’re comfortable with Excel, charts, and breaking down complex data into business implications, you’re already in a good spot. Practice summarizing insights from graphs and building mini recommendations from tables.

Best,
Alessa :)
