Can you guys explain how the MBB diversity pre-MBA programs work?

There are three programs: McKinsey Inspire, BCG Empower, Bain BASE. You have to be a diversity candidate to apply.

As far as I understand it, the only program with a real chance at converting into a summer internship is Bain BASE. They do one round of two case interviews, and then fly you to Washington to do a 1-week internship of sorts and if you do well you get an internship offer.

McK and BCG programs don't actually interview you, and if you're invited they just seem to be webinars so they can scout talent for January internship interviews.

Is this how it works? Can anyone shed further light on how these programs work?

They are basically a chance for you to get to know the firm better and how the recruitment process works.

They don't give you preferential treatment in the recruitment process, but just by nature of having clearer expectations about it from attending these events, you'll be better positioned than other candidates.

I interviewed an MBB Partner for this article on the role diversity plays in the recruitment process. Hope you find it useful:

Cristian
